LA Gymnastics Gets Big Celebrity Cheer From Film & TV Stars Before the Competition Season Begins!

Industry leader LA School of Gymnastics was proud this week to continue to be the leading choice among celebrities and nationally accomplished gymnasts alike for unmatched gymnastics training as several various film and television stars stopped by the facility cheer on the LASG athletes before the competition season begins this fall after another day of relentless and spirited practice.

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics Leads Star-Studded Opening Ceremony for the 2015 Special Olympic World Games

On Saturday, July 25th, the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics team of national-level gymnasts stepped onto the red carpet of the LA Coliseum to lead the 2015 Special Olympics Opening Ceremony as over 7,000 of the world?s most inspiring athletes came from 165 different nations came to celebrate the commencement of the 2015 World Games.

Following an introduction by President Barack Obama in front of a crowd of 62,388, the Los Angles School of Gymnastics team of 30 of its best athletes kicked off the event as they tumbled down the red carpet on live television, trailed by world-class stilt walkers.

Alongside performers such as Stevie Wonder and Avril Lavigne and appearances by Michelle Obama and Jimmy Kimmel, LASG?s general manager Tanya Berenson told, ?The World is coming to Los Angeles, but we are bringing to the world LA?s ?Dream Team?, a collaboration of Award-winning choreographer, Debbie Allen, and Olympic history-changing Coach, Mrs. Alla Svirsky together for another historic performance, combined with the world?s leading performers, comedians, and spokespersons.?

The 2015 World Games is the largest event held in Los Angeles since the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, where Los Angeles School of Gymnastics? own Executive Director Mrs. Alla Svirsky was inducted as the 1st Olympic Coach for the sport of rhythmic gymnastics and led the 1984 USA Team to a historical win.

Mrs. Svirsky still holds to this very day, the highest-ranked US Rhythmic gymnast in Olympic history. ?I recall walking into the very same stadium in 1984 leading the 1st Rhythmic Gymnastics Team for the United States as it was inducted into the Olympics that year, and my team performing at the Coliseum almost 30 years later with much fanfare is really exciting? ? says Svirsky, a USA Olympic Coach, Olympic Judge, and Inductee to the Sports Hall of Fame.

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics is excited to announce it will be leading the opening ceremonies of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games, this July, 25th at the Los Angeles Coliseum! Home to the 1984 Summer Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. The same coliseum that LASG?s very own Executive Director was inducted as the first USA Rhythmic Gymnastics Coach leading her team to a historic victory, still holding to this very day, the highest ranked Rhythmic Gymnast in Olympic history. ?The world is coming to Los Angeles, but we are bringing to the world LA?s ?Dream Team?, Mrs. Svirsky and Mrs. Debbie Allen to choreograph another historic performance, truly embracing the talent of the these two mega entertainers that the world will never forget!?, says Tanya Berenson, LA School of Gymnastics? General Manager. LASG athletes will lead the opening act of the televised performance with 30 of its own highly-skilled gymnasts, rhythmic gymnasts, and tumblers. The performance will be led by legendary choreographer, Debbie Allen, who stopped by LASG last week to meet with Executive Director, Alla Svirsky. To collaborate on this world class performance, Debbie and Alla have created routines and performances in the past for the Academy Awards and the Endeavor Space Shuttle parade.

LASG will be present in both the opening and closing ceremonies. LA Gymnastics Executive Director Inducted in 2015 Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

This week the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics was honored to have another one of its leaders be recognized for her legendary effect on the sport of gymnastics. 

Alla Svirsky, Gymnastics Inductee into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame

LASG?s Executive Director Alla Svirksy was inducted in the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame following her spectacular role as a coach and administrator who pioneered the sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics and served as the head coach of the 1984 USA Women?s Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics team.

Alla?s phenomenal presence in gymnastics has garnered her three Hall of Fame inductions to date, making her one of several acclaimed leaders of the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics, and serving since its inception in 1975.

Alla has supported LASG to Olympics heights through her career as she coached 15 national champions as well as being a seven-time USA Gymnastics ?Coach of the Year?, USA Gymnastics judge, and inductee into the Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Congratulations Alla!

LA School of Gymnastics Kicks Off Its 2015 Gymnastics Day Summer Camps with Celebrity Gymnasts

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics began its award-winning 2015 Summer Gymnastics Day Camps with a burst of excitement last week including the Kiddy Camp, Day Camp, Teen Camp, Day Camps, and an incredible Tumbling Clinic taught by LASG?s own celebrity coaches Yefim Furman and Hallie Mossett!

5th Degree Black Belt Karate teacher, Sensei Dan taught campers the basics of ?No Contact? introduction to beginning Karate and hip-hop coach Diana Odajyan who ripped up the floor with her students. Not to mention campers experience 3 hours daily of top-tier coaching and gymnastics everyday from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M. followed by gourmet lunch options that include organic catering from Ingallina?s Sandwich Shop. This amazing experience, from receiving instruction in gymnastics, karate, hip-hop, swimming, creative arts, and physical education, is one of the highest quality camps in Los Angeles, as voted by the LA Times.

The Tumbling Clinic focused on various basic and advanced skill such as Back handsprings Cartwheels, Roundoffs, and layouts. Internationally acclaimed and Olympic Coach Yefim Furman is no stranger to coaching any advanced of gymnastics.

Referred to as ?The Godfather? by many in the sport, Yefim has coached many of the sport?s greatest athletes of all time.His earned places in both the 1984 and 1992 Olympic Games.

Those he has worked with include Olympic Champions Tim Dagget, Chris Walker, Scott Keswick, Chaney Umprey and Steve McCain among many others. On top of all of this, Yefim himself is an Olympic champion, having claimed silver at the 1972 games. Yefim will continue to share his invaluable experience and  teach classes at LASG during the 2015 Summer classes.

LASG also is proudly home to two-year USA National Team member, two-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, and two all-around wins in 2014 in Division 1 collegiate gymnastics Hallie Mossett.

Hallie returned home last week to share her experience as one of the nation?s top collegiate gymnasts with LASG?s students and to coach the Tumbling Clinic alongside Yefim.

Thank you to LASG Alumni gymnast, UCLA PAC 12 Champion, Collegiate Athlete of the Year, Hallie Mossett for visiting her home at LASG to train and mentor students for the Tumbling Clinic for the launch of the Summer Camp.

LA School of Gymnastics Stars Shine at the 2015 Summer Academy Meet

Los Angeles School of Gymnastics kicked off its summer of spectacular events and programs with the 2015 Summer Academy Meet on May 3rd as we kick off celebrations for the annual ?Olympic Day? festivities. At the Academy Meet, each child participating received an official ?Olympic Day? participation certificate issued by the United States Olympic Committee. 

Led by Alla Svirsky, four-time USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year, USA National and Olympic Coach, and Inductee to the Gymnastics Hall of Fame, along with Olympian and LASG 3-time Olympic Coach and Silver medalist Yefim Furman.

The Academy Meet was established to provide the young gymnasts of the award-winning LA Gymnastics youth program an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned after months of hard work in a traditional competition format. At the event, 84 of LASG?s star students showed off the incredible talents they learned from LA Gymnastic?s top tier coaches. Great job to all the students that attended!

LASG will continue its summer events this week with its 2015 Summer Camp. Featuring various camps for all ages and interests, the Summer Camp is great active and healthy way to spend the idle summer months.

LASG Alumni and UCLA Women?s Gymnastics Member Visits for a Once in a Lifetime Tumbling Clinic This Sunday, May 31st from 1-3 P.M.

Among the amazing UCLA gymnastics team is LA School of Gymnastic?s own alumni Hallie Mossett. After her incredible experience at LASG, Hallie has continued her success as a two-year USA National Team member, two-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, and two all-around wins in 2014 in Division 1 collegiate gymnastics.

Hallie also returns home to teach LASG?s tumbling clinic this Sunday, May 31st from 1 to 3 P.M. alongside internationally acclaimed and Olympic Coach Yefim Furman!The clinic features celebrity coaches and gymnasts, free giveaways, and a meet and greet with Hallie and Yefim! The UCLA women?s gymnastics team recieved the 2015 Sportsmanship Award this week from the PAC-12 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following a spectacular performance by the team at the PAC-12 Championships, the Bruins also exemplified outstanding sportsmanship and integrity at the meet that earned them the 2015 Sportsmanship honor. Rarely do competing teams extend support to each other at such crucial competitions, but the UCLA Bruins stood out from the rest. After Utah senior Corrie Lothrop suffered an injury that brought her chances of competing to a halt, the Bruins showed compassion and support for the rival Utah team, despite ultimately losing the championship to Utah.
