Spring Camp Week 2

Spring Camp at Los Angeles School of Gymnastics has been a great turn of event. We ended week 2 and all left is week 3. It?s a pleasure to have these great campers, really great campers in fact. Caught them playing games I have not seen from observation there were forts, bases, throwing soft pads to bases, a lot of running and getting tired, laughter and just glad to see another day of them enjoying our Spring Camp.

What you are about to see are a few pics of campers playing a couple of games. Be warned, these kids had a ton of energy for us and the best part is fun. Thank you campers for being the best campers so far!

We got the game of? Seaweed!

Point of the game is for everyone to keep running back and forth on each opposite side without getting tagged or else they become a seaweed!!!!

Simple game of 4+ people, where there are two sides to run to on a square field.

1 person roams around in the middle and everyone else starts the game on one side of the square field.

When everyone is ready, call out SEAWEED!!! which then has everyone run to the other side without the roamer tagging them.

If tagged then they are to stay where they are tagged for the rest of the game and try to tag those who run pass by to be additional ?seaweed?.

The roamers stays as a roamer for the rest of the game, tagging everyone they can to make them into seaweed.

Last person to survive the chaos wins the game and may chose to be the roamer or anyone in the game to be the roamer excluding the previous roamer.

The game finished and he surprised me! He liked using the camera, next thing you know I?m out of a job!

Like previously said, he is trying to take my job.

She Sneaked up on me to get in the pic! These campers are like ninjas or Im just aware of my surroundings?

So great, they just loved the camera. No request, just pure fun campers! They finished a game of hide n? go seek! They were found and hanging around the base.

The day has ended and we are resting. Coach Sam and Beth asking what they would like to play next and what they would like to do more of. We make sure they enjoyed it and what better to make sure of it but to ask! Our Spring Campers had great input, opinions and suggestions.

Spring Camp Week 1

LASG Spring Camp 2016 started March 22nd and this week continues to be an amazing experience. Where we have karate, dancing, egg hunts, as well as what we do best which is gymnastics and so much more. Our coaches are constantly keeping our Spring Campers engaged in activities and equally keeping them safe. As you are about to see, we have our campers enjoying the activities of the week.

Came in to school to find them decorating their easter eggs in class.

Pretty sure where this is going, the good ol? game of easter egg hunting.

Both lil campers were done decorating their easter eggs so they were being silly bunnies in class.

Lil camper making faces everytime I tried taking a picture.

Our own Director checks in to our campers to maker sure they are having fun. The picture below are the campers opening the eggs they found and shared amongst those who couldn?t find any. Glad to be able to witness them following the solid rule of ?sharing is caring?.

I did my best to catch some pics to share but they are undpredictably fast to find those eggs. Every picture looked blurry like I was trying to get a pic of big foot.

The campers are everywhere searching for those easter eggs!!

Trying out flips from the trampoline to the soft pit, everyone gets to do it.

Our coaches are always supervising them, helping them improve and adding the obvious ingredient for these camers, HAVE FUN!!!

Week 1 is just the warm up, wait till week 2. Every camper is learning new things every day and we do our best to keep them on their toes for Spring Camp. It?s a time to have fun and continue having fun back to back. Break from doing homework, work, school, etc. LASG Spring Camp is to break habit and be yourself for once!

Spring Camp is Monday to Friday from 9 to 3 as a full day, half day is 9 to 12. Call us for more information. Thank you for reading and have a great Spring Time.

We Are Open Friday 3/25 and the weekend (Saturday 3/26 and Sunday 3/27)

2016 LA Lights Tournament of Champions

The world may be gearing up for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, but it is the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics(LASG) heating up with World and Olympic Champions from all over the globe to compete in what has become one of the largest multi-level rhythmic gymnastics competitions in the world, The L.A. Lights Tournament of Champions.

Just like the Olympic Games, this event is drawing the best female athletes from the US and around the world, including medalists from previous World and Olympic Games scheduled to compete. L.A. Lights takes place January 22-24 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

Headed by Executive Director of LASG, Alla Svirsky, the nation?s unparalleled leader in the gymnastics industry. Svirsky, a Gymnastics Hall of Fame member, three-time Olympic coach and seven time winner of USA Gymnastics Coach of the Year, has been working alongside Tanya Berenson, LASG General Manager and L.A. Lights Meet Manager, to make sure the 2016 L.A. Lights competition truly highlight the world?s best gymnasts.

Last week, world team member from Team Ukraine confirmed they will be sending the world champion group routine to compete in this visually stunning sport. Not to be outdone, the Belarus Team upped the ante by adding Melitina Stainouita, the 2013 World All-Around Silver Bronze, to their team.

Hours after Ukraine confirmed, the Israeli Maccabi Federation announced they will be competing bringing Sheli Sapir and Stefani Ivanzov to the tournament.

The toughest team to beat is, Team Ukraine, the 2015 European Gold Medal Champions. Made up entirely of Level 10 competitors, leading the team is Ganna Rizitadinora (who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and ranks #3 on the 2015 World Champion List) and Arina Charopa silver medal at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.

One of the most anticipated L.A. Lights gymnasts is America?s own Isabella Connor, a student at LASG and a member of the United States Junior Olympic Team. Connor, a first-time Senior Level 10 competitor, is slated to take a position on the USA National Team. She will be up against L.A. native and U.S. National Team Member, Aliya Protto. Both women will be competing for the chance to win and also to establish placement domestically and globally to help pave the way for a spot on Rio 2016 Rhythmic Gymnastics Team.

?It is official, we have raised the bar this year and the Annual L.A. Lights Tournament of Champions has become one of the biggest rhythmic gymnastics event in the world.? states Berenson ?With the last minute additions of the Russian competitors, it?s really now an all
out re-match of the 2012 Summer Olympics and is anyone?s game.?

Lights Tournament of Rhythmic Gymnastics Champions: USA National Team, Sweden National Team, Ukraine National Team, Russia National Team, Belarus National Team, Italy National Team, Israel Maccabi Team, Puerto Rico National Team, Canada National Team, Australia National Team and New Zealand National Team.

The Benefits of Gymnastics In and Outside of the Gym

Improves Academic Success

Recent research demonstrates how gymnastics complements a students outstanding academic life outside of the gym. There exists a strong and direct correlation between students who participated in gymnastics programs and performing exceptionally well in academics. Studies show that children learn cognitive skills more effectively in an environment that includes the body as well as the mind (Barrett, 1998). LASG is home to numerous after school and weekend classes that accompany a student?s busy schedule that begin at beginner?s level for all ages up to Olympic caliber training.

Builds Mental Toughness and Self Confidence

The progression that different levels of gymnastics programs offered at LA School of Gymnastics build strong character traits in gymnasts including increased levels of self-confidence, significantly higher degrees of mental toughness from professionally evaluated classes that are the perfect level for any gymnast, strengthens determination, and develops a standard of courage that can only be earned from rigorous and rewarded practice. LASG encourages all students to learn from their failures. Covered in mats wall-to-wall, a gymnast will learn what it means to fail and become stronger.

REHABILITATION

Participating in gymnastics has countless benefits and can help any gymnast become both a better athlete and an even better individual. A report published in National Wellness Week indicated that physical exercise, such as gymnastics is associated with decreasing the risk of depression and its symptoms in athletes. Additionally, athletes are often at risk to gateway, misused prescribed drugs that can lead them down a path of drug addiction.

LA School of Gymnastics recognizes these areas in an athlete?s life that can help them become better parts of their community.

Starting by launching the all new L.A.A.A.P program, geared towards rehabilitating at-risk youth through FREE gymnastics classes for all who qualify.

Led by leaders of the gymnastics and youth rehabilitation industry in Southern California, the revolutionary L.A.A.A.P program is guaranteed to provide countless number of youth in the LA community with a unique and groundbreaking opportunity to better themselves and their community. You can register for the new L.A.A.AP. online today a laaap.com.

Gymnastics is Not Just For Kids!

LASG offers the opportunity for aspiring gymnasts of all ages to achieve success within and outside of the facility.
