PROGRAM/ CLASSES TAUGHT: Team coach Levels 5-10

 GYMNASTICS BACKGROUND: Maryna began gymnastics at the age of six years at the National School for Junior Gymnasts in Yerevon, Armenia under former Olympic All-Around Champion Grant Shahinian. In the short span of three years she was selected as a Junior Elite Gymnast. Giak Meltonian was the National Coach at that time. In 1981, Maryna won the prestigious title of the National Armenian Elite Championships and grasped gold medals in all four events.

She was selected to be on the National Armenian Gymnastics Team and represented the country of Armenia in hundreds of national and international competitions seven years, where she held the 1st place position on the team in both individual competition and group events. Maryna was invited to train by the Minister of Sport at the official Soviet National Team Training Center in Round Lake, Russia.

Maryna was the only member of her originating Armenian National Team to be selected to represent the former Soviet Union in the Junior International Championship in Cuba placing her at the top of the all-around scores. As a result of her outstanding competitive success, Maryna received a “Master of Sport” designation. In 1990, she graduated from the Armenian Physical Sports Institute gaining to her expertise training and coaching degree of the highest level in the world. During her attendance in University, Maryna continued to compete at the University Games placing 1st over 300 participants.

Her coaching career began in 1991 where she took a position with her former coach at the Junior School for Gymnasts and continued coaching there for three years. She now has two daughters and lives permanently in Los Angeles with her husband. We are extremely proud to have Maryna join the international staff at the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics and look forward to a very favorable competitive and pre-competitive season.
